Week 12

This sprint was our best by far. We ended the two week period with a successful client feedback session and all of our members in good spirits.

I stepped back from the production side of things and handed the animatic over to Jordan. It was a bit hard to relinquish that control, but it gave me the time to focus purely on managing our production. It also helped speed up our editorial process, since now sound and visual edit are being done by one person. This was a good decision all around.

On an organizational level, I fleshed out our Production Tracker spreadsheet and updated our Miro board. Our new format for daily check-ins has helped keep track of progress and roadblocks, and all of these things together have made for a smoother production.

We had an undergraduate student—Tony—help set up an Unreal Engine pipeline for our 3D artists, which has made our team a million times more efficent and much less stressed about collaboration. We’ve finally made it out of Pre-Production and have pretty much locked Layout. As a team, we also had some honest conversations about uneven workload. Alleviating that friction has left us all feeling more relaxed and optimistic about our tasks. I’m very pleased with the progress we’ve made these past two weeks.

Yesterday, Josie and I presented our progress to the client and received valuable feedback and, thankfully, approval of the direction we are going in. I’m hoping this momentum continues into the next sprint.

Our latest animatic!
