Week 3

This week was pretty busy for this class. A lot of teamwork! It was nice to work so closely with the others for this week’s assignments. I think we did good as a team this week. On a personal level, I also felt more motivated and productive with all of my classes, so I’d say that overall this week was a success.

Photogrammetry

We showed our first set of photos in class last Wednesday. I took photos of a 3D printed bust I own. They turned out alright; I learnt a lot from the critique. I had very inconsistent lighting. I kind of rushed it, so the bad angles and framing are my own fault in hurrying through the assignment. :(

The class met up to take pictures of our objects on Thursday. We brought more objects than required by the assignment so that we would have some leeway if we messed up. Our photography session was pretty chill and I enjoyed myself. Since the table I used was in the corner, the side up by the wall was a bit darker. Too dark, in hindsight? I’m not sure. I think I got decent angles, though.

On Tuesday, we met up in the Open Lab and worked on reconstructing our objects in 3D. I feel like we took a lot of photos, but based on how the scans are turning out, maybe we should’ve taken more…? The initial scans are all super bumpy; I wonder what’s causing that.

I definitely missed the detailed instructions before choosing my object; it has a lot of glass that didn’t scan very well.

Presentation About Pitching

The concept of making a presentation about pitching is kind of funny to me. I didn’t particularly see the point, but after we all worked on it together over Discord voice chat last night, I can maybe see the benefit of discussing in detail our pitching process before we really get into the project.

Crow Museum

We are choosing objects soon! Yippee!!!
